Caught up with commuter on Elmhurst falts, was gone by 58th street. Nice bike handling around the cones on 1st ave. beat the beefcake trainer on the fixie, never take the sidewalk. Crossed over on 51st street, nichts so gute, fellow cyclist riding in her black ballet slippers.

Service road in front of McDs a mess in Elmhurst. Gas up a good 6 cents since last I checked. Lovely three blocks on Queens Plaza North too bad the maple trees they planted first are already dead! Lots of fire engines getting on the bridge.

Still have to come up with a name of a person who rides with his/her helmet hooked to their handlebars.

Forgot to tell her I don't see any bikes in front of Martha's house on Lilly Pond Lane. More e-bikes over the bridge. Crossing at 53rd is becoming my standard route.

Another new Spanish restaurant and bakery on Cororna ave. Too warm for the yellow jacket. Lots of walkers on the bike path over the Sunnyside RR bridge. Some TA activity at the base of the 59th street bridge. Woman going the wrong way in my path waiting for the day they try to take a shortcut over the bridge via the pedestrian path. Avoiding 49th street better taking 53rd street.

8:00 AM, Battery Park Castle Clinton, Manhattan. Rode to Battery Park. Bailed at 59th street bridge back to Forest Hills. 33.3 miles.

41°F and still in tights $4.09/gal. ~7:55 - 8:24 - 8:55. First piece of street fashion last evening. Black Old Navy sweatshirt on 43rd ave. In my size! No lock to stop at Walgreens. Yesterday's winds were not 20 or 30 but 40. Wind tunnel conditions.

50°F $4.07/gal. 8:25 - 8:57 - 9:25. Bright + clear a nice way to say nasty headwind. Saw a kid blown off his bike on the bridge, that was a first. Upper Corona ave. + Skillman ave. trees in full bloom. Road hazard of the day: umbrella spokes. Anti-killing zone bike path coming along on Queens plaza north. Open by May?

47°F $4.07/gal. 12 cents more since last on the bike. Soupy out [drizzle + overcast] garbage day on Corona ave. remember I forgot my wallet around Junction blvd. Hit all the green lights on the Lewis Mumford speedway. Met Robert while going over the bridge. Lots of interest in chickens these days. Followed fire truck on Lex. ave. sweet smell of diesel.
